Fab-ulous dance team are masters of Europe
TALENTED youngsters from Rochdale danced their way to the top of the leaderboard at the European Championships.
Rochdale’s Fabdance Centre, based on Rooley
Moor Road, competed against schools from across the UK and Norway at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens.
Under 12 team ‘The Unknown’ walked away with a first place in the freestyle section and second place in the slowdance category.
Fiona Briddon, principal teacher and owner of Fabdance Centre, said: “I have always been proud of all our pupils from the dance school in competitions but never in a million years did we expect these results.
“Our little under four dancer Frankie Davies stole the show, winning trophies in all her sections.
“She has only just turned three. For her to even walk on the floor was a massive achievement let alone to perform the way she did was beautiful.
“She achieved second place in Grand Prix, second place in her freestyle fast solo, second place in her slowdance and she also danced with her partner Poppy Shipley where they achieved third place in rock n roll, second place in pairs freestyle and fourth place in slowdance pairs.”
The championships were held on the weekend of October 25 and Fiona praised the support of Rochdale firm Colorplas, Morrisons at Kingsway, the Oxford pub on Whitworth Road and Norwest Industrial Roofing.
She said: “We really do appreciate the love and support from these companies. This was our first time competing at the European championship with it being their first competition for many of our students.
“We went with no expectations and every student came away with at least one or more trophies, sashes, and t-shirts.”
