Rovers’ great eight

IN the Rochdale Bury and District Sunday League First Division Newhey Rovers won 8-0 against Cartshaft.

Meanwhile, Title challenger­s Middleton Town were stunned by Limeside King George who claimed a 9-2 win on the day.

Middleton Town’s manager Chris Petcu said,” We were missing half a team through suspension­s and injuries, and they signed two players on the day on to make a good team just a bad day at the office.”

Elsewhere, Bury Pumas won their first game of the season with a 7-1 win over the Azzurri.

In the Second Division, Empire won 5-2 against Rochdale Dynamos.

Rochdale Dynamos have now lost five games in seven matches, whilst Empire have won three games this season.

MPG claimed a 4-1 away win against Milnrow FC to claim their fourth win in four games this season.

MPG currently sit in third place but have two games in hand on the teams above them.

Spotland Reform won 7-2 against Horse and Farrier to maintain their place at the top of the table.

Spotland have won six in six, scoring 30 goals in the process.

Elsewhere D’Haviland Wanderers claimed their second win of the season after a close cut match against North Manchester Lions, in match that ended 6-4.

The win moves them out of the relegation zone.

In the Third Division Tara won 6-1 against Manchester Swifts.

The win leaves Tara in seventh place, whilst Manchester Swifts sir bottom of the pile and without a win in their four games this season.

Chaddy End Old Boys continued their impressive form with a 2-1 win against Breightmet Wanderers.

Chaddy End are currently leaders having won five games in seven, yet have played two more games than Avenue Second XI.
