Jimmies hit for six after woeful second-half

-

HEYWOOD St James will want to forget last Saturday’s visit to Broadway as they produced a nightmare performance at the home of Chadderton Reserves.

Trailing by the odd goal in three at half time, Jimmies’ second half display was simply shocking with Team Manager Chris Taylor ‘unavailable; for the regular after match interview – understandable after a 1-6 drubbing.

Jimmies Reserves entertained a much improved Tintwistle Athletic side at Phoenix

Park on the same day and unlike their first team counterparts came off the better in a terrific 90 minute seven goal thriller.

Jimmies led from the fifteenth minute when Tony Pedley’s long punt down the pitch found Jackson King who accelerated through the

Tintwistle defence to smash the ball pass the startled Tintwistle goalkeeper.

With both sides playing attacking football it was amazing that King’s strike was the only goal of an action packed first half.

Wes Hunt had a glorious opportunity to double Jimmies advantage when he burst down the left flank but his finish lacked both power and direction.

The visitors created several openings but were denied an equalising goal thanks to the vigilance of the Jimmies back four of Ash Mccabe, Ash Spencer, Cameron Dudley and Andy McGuinness who were outstanding.

Despite their alertness the Visitors deservedly levelled the score after 68 minutes.

With their tails up Tintwistle suffered a setback when just three minutes later they had a player dismissed for foul and abusive language towards the referee.
