Monir ups his game to land victory
MONIR “Real Money” Miah of Hamer ABC took on the challenge of Joe Brown of Preston and Fulwood Boxing Club in a show held by Droylsden ABC at Stanley House, Audenshaw.
The bell rang for the first round and both boxers came out using their jab whilst probing for openings but it was the Hamer boxer Monir who landed the first significant punch when he edged his opponent onto the ropes to unload a powerful right hand to the chin.
Both boxers continued fencing with their jabs until Monir took the initiative once again to land an accumulation of punches to both the body and head take the round.
Before round two began the Hamer coach Steven Connellan told Monir that he needed to impress the judges of the bout that little bit more, so he was told to up his game and take the fight to his opponent with swift combinations.
The bell rang for the second round and Monir immediately landed another solid right hand to the chin before unleashing a barrage of punches to the body and head as Brown lay on the ropes.
Realizing that Monir was gaining the advantage, Brown came at the Hamer boxer much more in this round and began to make the bout that little bit untidy by trying to force Monir onto the back foot whilst landing swinging punches before holding onto his opponent, where as Monir landed the more significant shots when he was free to unload his punches.
In the third and last round Monir landed another solid right hand, followed by a left hook to the side of the head which immediatly led Brown to start holding once again.
The Preston boxer continued to try and force the action but the Rochdale boxer showed great footwork to keep out of range and at one point he swiveled upon his left foot to unleash another clever right hook to the side of the head followed by a scintillating right hand to the face to take the bout by a unanimous decision.
