Ricketts left to rue missed chances
SHREWSBURY boss Sam Ricketts was disappointed with the result and was left frustrated with Town’s missed chances.
He said: “I am immensely frustrated for a number of reasons. They are possessionbased and like to move the ball, but we had more possession and more shots.
“We just couldn’t score, we couldn’t have done any more. We nullified them, dominated the game, dominated the second-half but got caught with a disappointing goal.
“We need to turn all of those shots and all of those chances into goals – unfortunately, we couldn’t do so.
“The fact that the keeper got man of the match probably makes it worse.
“Jason had a one-on-one first half, Conor had half a chance but the defender just managed to get a touch on it and we had opportunities to break. We had enough crosses into the box but their keeper caught too many.
“Ultimately, we just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. We dominated the game and we are incredibly frustrated not to win it. I thought Conor was good, you can see why he scores and why he assists.
“We had three forwards on the pitch as we have done a number of times this season. We were pushing to get the goal.
“I thought we moved the ball well, moved Rochdale around well but we just didn’t score.
“The players understand what we have to do and we will have to just move on to the next game.
“We want to score more goals because we are doing everything but scoring. We did well but couldn’t score. We could have been two or three up.”
