Brides say yes to dress again for charity cash
AWOMAN is giving brides the chance to wear their wedding dress again to raise money for charity.
Fay Sammon, 33, from Newhey, married husband Steven in 2017 in her £720 dress, and wanted the chance to wear it again.
The mum-of-three has previously fundraised for breast cancer after a family member suffered from the disease, and the North West Ambulance, who came to the aid of her father, Graham Dixon after he came off his motorbike, though he sadly died.
Now the determined mum is fundraising for mental health charity Mind and breast cancer, through an event which will be held in July at The Cedar Tree at the Sheaf, Newhey.
Tickets are £15 for adults and £7 for children, and include a prosecco cocktail on arrival, a hot buffet, and an auction which local businesses have donated to.
Money will go to the chosen charities. There will be a disco hosted by a DJ, and prizes for quirkiest bride, mother of the bride best hat, and a sexiest groom competition.
There will also be face painting for children. The event will take place on July 18 at 3pm.
Fay, who is mum to Lily, 11, Isabella, seven, and Elsie, two, said: “I wanted to wear my dress again.
“I’ve done a lot of charity fundraising before and the idea just came into my head. A lot of people want to wear their dress again.
“With this being an event predominantly for women, breast cancer is important and it’s important to make people aware of it. A family member suffered with it and survived. I’m raising money for Mind for personal reasons.
“We’re going to have lots of different things going on and we’ve had a lot of interest. I’ve had a lot of generous donations from local businesses and a local company has printed all my posters.”
Tickets are available at The Cedar Tree or by calling 07864 859601.
