Youth’s Friday fun for just £1
OVER 250 young people are now regularly attending a fun night on a Friday which costs just £1.
The council’s Friday Night Project sessions take place at Rochdale
Leisure Centre and Heywood Sports Village.
Council leader, CounAllen Brett, cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Kieran Heakin, and his deputy, Councillor Rachel Massey, were recently given a tour of both centres seeing firsthand the popular activities available for the borough’s young people.
Coun Brett, said: “It was delightful to see so many young people engaged in our services and clearly themselves.
“The Friday Night Project offers a great mix of fun, fitness and friendship as well as providing enjoying fantastic access to qualified youth workers.
“We are so proud of the success of this work, it is testament the quality of our youth service.”
The sessions are supported by Link4Life with their use of the buildings and equipment and sports coaches.
The Friday Night Project
at Rochdale Leisure Centre offers young people aged 11 to 19. and up to 25 for those with SEND, the chance to go the gym, swim, dance, or play table tennis, basketball and football with Rochdale AFC.
At Heywood Sports village there is football, basketball, table tennis, gym, music production and pool.
All sessions are available for just £1 per evening.

Mia said: “I love coming here on a Friday, there’s lots going on and I’ve made new friends and the youth service staff are really supportive.
“Through coming here I have developed skills and confidence that has enabled me to show our guests round.”
The council’s youth service provides events and activities all year round for young people across the borough.
It offers and extensive programme including short breaks, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, bike clubs, creative art sessions and SEN ability groups. They take place in their youth centres across the borough or out and about at local parks.
