Health bosses sign up to living wage

-

HEALTHWATCH Rochdale’s Board of directors has signed up to the living wage accreditation, ensuring all employees will earn at least £9.30 an hour.

The real Living Wage is an hourly rate set independently and updated annually, and is calculated according to the real costs of living. Employers choose to pay the real Living Wage on a voluntary basis.

This commitment by

Healthwatch Rochdale will apply to everyone working at the organisation, regardless of their position or whether they are direct employees or third-party contracted staff.

Jane Jackson, Chair of Healthwatch Rochdale, said: “We are delighted to have been accredited as a Living Wage Employer. We have paid all our staff above the living wage for a number of years, so we were keen to join the growing number of employers across Rochdale who have been recognised for making this important commitment.”

The organisation now joins the list of more than 6,300 UK living wageaccredited employers who pay employees a minimum of £9.30 an hour - a significant difference from the Government-calculated national living wage of £8.72 and minimum wage of £8.20.

Healthwatch Rochdale is responsible for monitoring and improving the borough’s health and social care services through collating feedback from local service users and representing the public’s voice in Rochdale.
