NHS key workers will be able to benefit from free parking at Mecca Bingo’s Rochdale site under a recently announced community support scheme.

Mecca Rochdale has teamed up with the online parking provider, YourParkingSpace, to offer between 80 and 100 parking spaces available at Mecca Rochdale to be used by staff.

The scheme is initially set to run until 31st May, when it will be reviewed in accordance with government guidelines. An extension for the scheme is planned if lockdown is also extended by this point.

Gary Taylor, General Manager at Mecca Bingo Rochdale said, “The NHS workers are doing a phenomenal job and we want to show our gratitude and thanks to them by opening up our car parks to those who need it most right now. We hope this news will make their journeys both safer and easier over the coming weeks.”

To secure the booking, NHS workers will need to visit www.yourparkingspace.co.uk/nhsparking and enter their NHS staff email address to receive their free parking code. The code can then be added to accounts, where it will be automatically applied at each checkout for as long as it is valid.

Nationwide, Mecca Bingo is offering nearly 2,000 parking spaces to key workers, including at the Rochdale site, which is a 15 minute walk from Rochdale Infirmary.

Other sites where workers can obtain free parking through YourParkingSpace in the Rochdale area include car parks at Kingsway in

Rochdale, Norton Grange Hotel and Spa in Castleton, Dawson Street in Heywood, and Greenfield View in Hurstead.

The news comes as an anonymous Rochdale woman found out that she had won a cash prize of almost £50,000 from just one game on the Mecca Bingo website.

The lady said she “screamed with excitement” when she realised she had won the lifechanging sum after playing on the site for more than five years.

In the first main event game she had played on the site, her stake of just £3.60 returned a jackpot of £49,646.

The lucky winner said: “I absolutely could not believe my luck when I saw that I had won, I’ve never been so excited, my heart was beating out of my chest.

“It was my first time playing a main event as well, I just can’t believe it still.

“My family have been through some rough times recently with illnesses and it was so refreshing to have something good happen.

“I just want my family to be happy and this will definitely help me to make that happen.”

She has never been abroad so intends to use her winnings to buy her first passport and take her family on holiday.

Catherine Warrilow at MeccaBingo.com said: “We’re overjoyed for the winner, we love to see when somebody wins big and it has such a positive impact for not only them, but also their family.

“We’re delighted that MeccaBingo.com played a part - it’s a wonderful feeling when someone wins big!”
