●●HAPPY VE day from the Rochdale Observer a plane the moment they left prison. Its a disgrace.

●●PLANS revealed for much-needed ‘state-ofthe-art’ healthcare hub. It would provide a new home for two GP practices currently operating from ‘entirely unsuitable’ premises (page 3). Jen Taylor So sad as I was the health authority administrator/manager when Stonefield Street first opened. It was so big at the time. With no pharmacy, but lots of rooms and space for baby clinics, chiropody, dentistry, district nurses and of course GPs. How times change!! Lisa Wallwork There’s a perfectly good hospital building going to waste, why can’t something be done with that?

●●‘THIS is not an essential journey’: Police insist they were right to stop driver travelling from Coventry to Rochdale to buy a new car. ‘On this occasion, the circumstances were more than justified to report both the driver and the passenger for the breach of covid offence’ (page 4) Beryl Nolan The police were RIGHT to stop this car travelling for a new car is not essential. Scott Donovan If socially distanced throughout the whole purchase, I don’t see the problem. There is more chance of spreading or catching covid in a supermarket, chippy, petrol station etc. would opt for due process go to court and ask what Law has been broken to warrant a criminal conviction -answer none, he opted to breach advice or guidelines. He cannot be found guilty of a crime. John Collins It’s gonna be a civil infraction so the only “due process” available is to him is to enter mitigation and ask for leniency. Mouthing off about “what law has been broken?” is contempt of court in a civil proceeding. You [would already be guilty] because you were found in breach much like a drink driving situation. Lesley Hoare Non essential travel.

●●SOCIAL distancing in schools would be ‘impossible’ and ‘damaging’, says reception teacher. Siobhan Cunliffe’s poem about the difficulties of schools reopening has gone viral (May 11)

Emma Jayne Calverley Nope. My son won’t be going back to nursery anytime soon. You cannot social distance with young children. How can you keep them away from each other. I’m a key worker and I won’t be sending my son back while I am working just to be on the safe side for other families as well as my own. Cathryn Moore Might be a little controversial but I have a son in Y6 and yes he will go back if schools are open. With the correct measures in place I see no issue. It is scary and the unknown but we have to start somewhere. My son is able to understand the risks and can social distance. What I do not want is almost six month off school and the straight to high school. I do however strongly disagree with reception and Y1. Understand the importance of early years BUT the children don’t! Joanne Brown Cathryn Moore couldn’t agree more being in the same position with a son in year 6, I am so relieved they get to finish their primary school years and have some preparation for the transition to high school. Not as simple for the little ones and can understand parents concerns there x
