Artists and allotments

-

NATALIE Linney should have been working in the community exploring the Wonders of the Air as part of the Wonderfest! theme of this year’s, unfortunately now cancelled, Darnhill Festival.

Cartwheel Arts are hoping that they will be able to bring Natalie to us ‘in the near future.’

Natalie is a Manchester based artist and educator exploring textile, form, pigment, and print.

In her practice, Natalie utilises ancient dyeing techniques with natural and man-made objects found in the contemporary urban environment to produce entirely unique pieces.

Working with traditional methods, she creates striking and delicate patterns which emerge in unpredictable ways to reflect the materials used and the place in which it was produced.

By rooting her practice in locally sourced found materials and the contemporary, creative use of ancient craft methods, her work seeks to challenge the disposable fashion culture that has emerged in recent years.

During lockdown Natalie has been focusing on her plants.

Learning more about vegetables and taking on an allotment to try and grow on a slightly larger scale.

Once life starts back up again, Natalie would like to be able to offer plant growing workshops as well as her natural dye practice.
