App coordinates help for vulnerable

-

ROCHDALE residents in need of support during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic are among the first in Greater Manchester to benefit from a new app that aims to make the process of matching volunteers with vulnerable people much easier.

The Community Hub app is being used in Rochdale and Bury by staff at the hubs, created to coordinate support for people who had no way of accessing food or medicine supplies in the wake of lockdown.

It has been developed in response to the ongoing need for volunteers to support vulnerable citizens in essential tasks including food shopping and collecting medicines.

The aim of the app is to help coordinate everyone involved in logging, assigning and volunteering through the hubs and more easily track changes in demand to help improve decision making locally.

Following the launch of the app last week, Councillor Daalat Ali, deputy leader and cabinet member for resources at Rochdale Council said: “It has been pleasing to see such strong support from our communities during the pandemic and I welcome this new digital platform that will provide timely access to the right information when it is most needed.

“Volunteers provide a lifeline to so many residents and making sure they are working as effectively as possible has never been so vital.”

The community hubs in Rochdale and Littleborough provide help, advice and access to essential supplies.

If you need support, call 01706 923685 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, or 0300 303 8875 out of hours.
