Windows put in at newly opened village barbers

Some locals had objected to ‘out of keeping’ signage

ANEWLY opened barber shop has thanked the community for offering “brilliant” support after its windows were smashed by vandals.

Turkish Style Barber, on Edenfield Road, Norden had their windows put through in the early hours of Thursday, August 20, just six days after opening. cards, and offering to fix the windows, as well as visiting the shop to get haircuts.

Shop owner Farhang Mohamadi said: “We were dishearten­ed when the windows were broken and we thought ‘Will it be okay to have a business here?’

“But everybody who has gone past has been so supportive - they have said sorry and that they welcome us into the community and wish for a brighter future.

“It has been brilliant we have had so much support from the community. We feel happy being in the Norden area.

“You do get the odd person that does stuff like this - things like this do happen but we will continue.”

Posting online, the barbers said: “Thank you everyone in the Norden village for your support and kind words at this moment of time.

“Thank you for coming down and giving me reassuranc­e for a brighter future. Thank you for your texts and messages. Thank you to all the local business who have offered to help with fixing my windows.

“I am happy to say I have opened my business in Norden.”

Supporters of the barbers have left messages on Facebook.

One said: “So sorry to hear this - I can’t understand small-minded people who seem to just be a waste of oxygen!

“I walked past this evening, exchanged hellos and smiles with you and completely missed this! Looking forward to booking in with my son soon.”

Another wrote: “We are so sorry this happened to you! You did my boys’ hair on Monday and were so good with them.

“You are an asset to Norden.”

On August 15 we reported that there had been complaints about the shop signage, which is green with photos of examples of haircuts.
