Man, 27, in court over Ammar death
AMAN has been charged in connection with the death of Ammar Terbeche.
Abdelllkader Heni, 27, of no fixed address, has been charged with manslaughter.
Heni appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ on
Wednesday, October 7.
Officers were called by colleagues from the ambulance service to a report that a man was unconscious on a road next to The Esplanade, near Yates, on Sunday 20 September 2020.
Ammar, 32, (pictured left) was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the tragedy, Ammar’s friends said he was ‘very friendly, very respectful, well-spoken and articulate’.
Born in Marsa Ben M’Hidi, in the Tlemcen province, Ammar moved to the UK in 2017, his family said.
Ammar studied at a youth and sports institution in his native country.
For eight years, he was director of a sports complex in the Tlemcen province.
He settled in Rochdale, not far from the Central Mosque, before he started volunteering at the Castlemere
Community Centre.
Ammar helped out at a mosque and threw everything into being a part of his adopted community. He’d just enrolled on a series of college courses.
Speaking to the Observer from Algeria,
Ammar’s nephew Kicha Soufiane said his loved ones have been left devastated.
“God bless you, Ammar,” he said in a message to his uncle.
In a tribute on Facebook, Kicha wrote: “You were the best uncle and the best brother.”
