Teenage entrepreneur’s charity pumpkin hunt

-

A 14-YEAR-OLD who recently launched his own business is now raising money for Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home in Whitworth with a socially-distanced pumpkin hunt.

The charity, which provides respite care, relies on donations for funding.

Charlie Hastewell, 14, a pupil at Whitworth High, launched his sticker printing business, Sticker Düdle, earlier this year to raise money for his local Scouts group in Syke.

But the business, which began selling labels for water bottles, has gone from strength to strength.

Now trick or treating has been banned, Charlie and his family had the idea for families to do a pumpkin hunt, which will run from October 22 to November 4.

Families and businesses can pay £2.50 to order a vinyl sticker from Charlie, then put it in their window, where it will be visible to passersby.

Families can then go out to hunt for them, and whoever spots the most will be able to win a prize from Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home.

The hunt will take place in Whitworth, with a separate one in Shawclough and Healey.

Clues of your location can also be shared to the event page.

Charlie’s mum, Gillian Hastewell, said: “His business has been going brilliantly.

“His dad has been helping him as its been getting more technical, but he’s picking it up.

“He wants to do Design and Technology at GCSE level.”

So far, Charlie has sold around 150 stickers.
