Masked hero Faisal helps keep school pupils safe
ACOUNCILLOR is doing his bit to help out parents and children during the pandemic.
Faisal Rana, Coun for Spotland and Falinge, in Rochdale, has been distributing free face masks to primary schools in Spotland and Meanwood to help combat the spread of coronavirus.
Schools are remaining open during the latest lockdown.
Coun Rana said: “It’s really important our children do not miss out on their education during the Covid-19 crisis.
“Keeping our schools open is a priority, but I want to help them remain safe.
“That’s why I have distributed hundreds of free masks to parents and children at schools in my ward.
“Schools are working hard in really difficult and challenging times and I want to thank the whole school community - teachers, cleaners, caterers and support staff - for the great work they do in making sure our children can learn in as safe an environment as possible.
“Parents have been incredibly supportive of the schools during the pandemic.
“I just wanted to do my bit to assist schools, parents and pupils by distributing free face masks as a practical way to help everyone to keep safe in these very difficult circumstances.”
Coun Rana is also appealing for people to donate toys as part of this year’s Christmas toy appeal.
He said: “No child should go without a toy this Christmas.
“Can you buy an extra toy for needy children?
“I’m supporting Rochdale Council staff again this year who are distributing toys to local children living in poverty.
“If you’ve got a new toy you can donate please message me and help deliver some Christmas magic!”
