Duo take lead with eco-friendly dog salon

-

AN all-natural ecofriendly dog grooming salon has opened in Milnrow.

GreenPaws Grooming has been opened on Dale Street by Jordan Perkins, 24, and partner Cara Taylor, 21.

The salon’s ethos is to use eco-friendly cleaning products and shampoos, which they say will not dry out a dog’s skin, while also not being harmful to the environment.

They even send off dog fur to be used to help clean up oil spills in the ocean.

Jordan, who lives on Charles Street, Littleborough, said it is bringing something new to the area. He said: “We got the idea through my partner, who has worked in dog groomers before.

“We realised a lot of shampoos have harmful chemicals in, which dry out a dog’s skin.

“The best way to combat that was to go down the natural route.

“We use all products.

“My partner has been working in dog grooming for two years - I’m a complete novice, but she’s training me up.”

Jordan met Cara in their last job where they worked together.

He added: “It went from there. We became a bit of a partnership.

“It’s her dream and passion.

“We wanted to try and build something new.

“Custom has been slow with the pandemic but we are building up a customer base and we have five-star reviews.

“We are right in the centre of the village and we’ve completely renovated the property, including electric heated showers. natural

“What we see is things that everyone is doing healthy eating and better cars, but at the end of the day they take their dog to a groomer that uses harsh cleaners and shampoos.”

Jordan added that Cara suffers from eczema, and since using natural shampoos she hasn’t suffered an outbreak.

Jordan worked as a retail assistant in a pet shop and Cara worked in dog grooming before they decided to open their own business.

He said: “It’s a massive leap for our age to have a business - but there’s no point letting that hold you back.

“We also shop locally at Tarn Replenished in Milnrow for our natural cleaning products. We have the same values.”

Jordan has a Japanese akita, while Cara has two chihuahuas.
