Rochdale fall short in chasing down Walsden

GROUP leaders Walsden picked up and 18 run win over Rochdale at Scott Street as Jack Halstead took 3-34 and Mubasher Khan 3-37.

Rochdale’s reply in chasing down Walsden’s 199-5 was led by Andy Dawson, who hit an unbeaten 60 from 36 balls, with skipper Jamie Roche 40, profession­al Sean Whitehead 22 and James Maurice-scott 16 all chipping in. Alas, the visitors were only able to tally up 181 all out.

Walsden’s profession­al Umesh Karunaratn­e and Cameron Hanson both hit 53 in the home side’s 199-4. Elliott Gilford hit 45 from 29 balls and skipper Joe Gale hit a quickfire 25.

Stand-in skipper Mohammed Jamal hit 69 from 54 balls to secure a third win in a row for Crompton at Littleboro­ugh for the JWL Manchester Craft Group leaders. Profession­al Imran Khalid also hit 28 for the visitors. Home profession­al Travis Townsend (30), Matt Hernon (25), Zac Perren (18 not out) and Josh Unsworth (13 not out) chipped in to help Littleboro­ugh post 117-5. Muhammad Zuhaib picked up 2-25 for Crompton.

Sagar Trivedi (3-10), Phill Gilrane (2-31), Levi Wolfenden (2-15) and Andrew Bentley (2-24) helped Church to an 86 run win over Burnley at West End in The JWL Founders Group.

Bharat Tripathi top scored with 18 in Burnley’s 66 all out as they fell short of the target set by Church.

Wolfenden (38), Sam Holt (37), Kelan Florentine (32 not out) and Trivedi (24) had carried Church to 152-6. Tripathi took 2-21 for Burnley.

Nazakat Hussain was the top scorer with 61 as Great Harwood enjoyed an 18 run win over Enfield at The Evolve Document Solutions Cliffe Park.

Hussain faced 50 balls and hit eight fours and a six in Great Harwood’s 131-7. Matt Oddie hit 25 and skipper Allan Armer 20.

Enfield profession­al Stuart Els took 3-24. Ethan Houldswort­h took 2-5 and profession­al Thikshila de Silva 2-11 to help restrict Enfield to 113-7. Els made 39, Tiarnan Hamiill 19 and Lewis Wright and Yasir Ali 14 apiece for the visitors.

Sheikh Iqbal took 3-10 on his competitio­n debut to help East Lancs to a 71 run win over Nelson at Alexandra Meadows.

Adeel Mohammed also took 2-4 with Jack Bradley making 22, profession­al Usman Tariq 16 and Khurrum Nazir 14 in Nelson’s 80 all out. Sam Finch top scored with 58, including six fours and two sixes in East Lancs 151-6. Skipper Niall Boyle also hit a competitio­n best unbeaten 43. Elliot Bradley took 2-27 and Nazir 2-32 for Nelson.

Brad Fielding hit an unbeaten 84 from 45 balls to lead Ramsbottom to an 8 wicket win at Greenmount in The JWL MPA Group. Fielding smashed seven sixes and seven fours to see Ramsbottom home in the 13th over. Profession­al Daryn Smith also hit an unbeaten 20 and Jacob Clarke 16. Tom Heaton top scored with 41, profession­al Chesney Hughes hit 34 and Owen Halstead made an unbeaten 19 in Greenmount’s 136-6. Clarke took 2-25 in Ramsbottom’s seven pronged bowling attack.

George Walker took 3-34 to help Middleton to a 27 run win at Rawtenstal­l. Profession­al James Price also took 2-18 and skipper Dale Highton picked up 2-24 with Cameron Holder hitting 35, Ishaq Hussain 24 and Rizwan Shafiq 19 in Rawtenstal­l’s 118 all out.

Richard Fitton hit 40, Grant Jones 25, Walker 24 and Rhys Tierney 19 in Middleton’s 145-8. Imran Abid picked up 3-29 for Rawtenstal­l.

An opening stand of 83 between Tom Lord, who hit 54 from 18 balls, and Kyle O’connor who hit an unbeaten 35, helped Clitheroe to a 6 wicket win at Colne in the JWL Bitter Group. Andy Hakin picked up 3-35 for Colne. A competitio­n best unbeaten 47 by Matt

Walker helped Colne post 122-5. Sam Tillotson also hit 32 and sub profession­al Shivam Chauhan 19 with Cole Hayman taking 2-19 for Clitheroe.

An opening stand of 102 between Mark Friend (62 from 60 balls) and Kamran Anwar (58 from 31 balls) set up a 24 run win for Darwen at Rishton.

Sub profession­al Siddesh Lad also hit 35 and Jordan Clarke 15 in Darwen’s 190-4. Harris

Masood took 2-21 for Rishton. Sajid Patel (51 from 39 balls) and Richie Fox (30) put on 83 for the 1st wicket but Lad took 3-34 to help restrict Rishton to 166-6. Profession­al Sachithra Perera also hit 42 and skipper Brad Boddie 31 in the Rishton innings.

The match between Lowerhouse and Accrington was cancelled after several Accrington players tested positive for Covid-19.
