COLLEAGUES at Co-op Funeralcare in Rochdale and Bury embarked on a 22km sponsored walk to raise money for charity.

The team wanted to raise awareness and funds for mental health charity Mind, a long-time partner of Co-op Funeralcare.

The team set off from the Rochdale funeral home on Manchester Road, arriving roughly two hours later at the neighbouring Co-op Funeralcare in Bury, before making their journey back to Rochdale.

Through their efforts, the team surpassed their donation target of £150, raising more than £300 for Mind, to help with the important work they do for those experiencing mental health problems.

Becky Andrew, Funeral Arranger at Co-op Funeralcare in Bury, said: “Giving back to our community is a major part of the work that we carry out, and given the hardships we have all experienced during the past 18 months, the incredible work done by Mind has been needed more than ever.

“We were thrilled with the amount of support we received from friends, family, colleagues and local residents, helping us beat our donation target.

“We all want to say ‘thank you’ to Mind for all of the support they have provided those dealing with mental health concerns, loneliness and anxiety during these challenging times.”

The charity partnership with Mind aims to raise substantial funds by engaging Co-op colleagues, members and customers in a range of national and local fundraising.
