Police name victim of road crash tragedy

A MAN who died after being hit by a van in Heywood has been named as Czeslaw Rozal.
Mr Rozal, who is understood to have been in his 50s, was struck by a Vauxhall Astra ‘carderived van’ on Monday, August 23.
Police were called to Pitt Street in the town to reports that a vehicle had collided with a pedestrian.
The male pedestrian - now understood to be Mr Rozal - passed away in hospital a short time later as a result of his injuries.
A spokesperson for Rochdale Coroner’s Court confirmed a file relating to his death had been passed to the coroner.
Police initially arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has since been released under investigation.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information from the public on the incident.
Police Constable Suzanne Keenan, of GMP’S Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said previously: “A man has very tragically died as a result of his injuries following this collision and as such, we are continuing to appeal to the public for information.
“Any information you have could help us provide his loved ones with the answers they deserve.”
