Double delight for Jake as Dale down Barrow

-

TWO-GOAL hero Jake Beesley has praised Dale’s overall performance in their victory over Barrow.

Dale went ahead after 28 minutes at the Dunes Hotel Stadium, with Beesley latching onto a ball from Dale captain Eoghan O’connell and firing into the bottom corner.

Barrow equalised in the second half through Ollie Banks – who converted the rebound after missing from the penalty spot – but Dale claimed the three points with Beesley netting his second from close range.

Speaking after the match, the forward told the club’s official website: “I think it was a great away performance from us.

“We got the goal in the first half and then we had a bit of a lull, then they scored. But we showed great character to come back into it and get the three points.”

Beesley gave credit to captain O’connell, whose pinpoint ball led to the Dale equaliser.

He said: “When you have got players like Eoghan [O’connell] on the ball, his quality is unbelievable. I know I can make them runs in behind and he will find me more often than not.

“So I knew if I made the run I would have a good chance of getting in and it was just then about taking the right touches and finishing it off.”

Beesley then poked the ball home from close range in the 72nd minute, in what proved to be the Dale winner. On his second goal, he said: “I prefer them, to be honest! You have just got to be in the right place at the right time – I love them goals!

“The gaffer has been great with me, I have been trying to work as hard as I can. He has just said ‘relax and play your game, you’re playing well and the goals will come’. And thankfully today they have.”

Reflecting on Dale’s recent run of results – with the club recording back-to-back league wins, stretching their unbeaten run to four games – Beesley said: “With the players we have got in the changing room, we’re a really good group – we are all together. I think we are all quietly confident that it can go well, it is just about getting that consistency in our performances – we don’t want to be up and down, we want to be at that level every week and it will put us in good stead to get results.”
