TEN pubs are taking part in this year’s Rochdale Ale Trail. The Ale Trail will be running until Monday and will feature more than 100 ales and ciders.

Ten Rochdale pubs are participating in the festivities, where you can collect a unique commemorative ale trail t-shirt for visiting all of the venues.

Participating pubs include The Baum, The Medicine Tap, The Flying Horse, Hoochi Koochi, Hogarths, The Pint Pot, The

Regal Moon, The Cask and Feather, D’ale House and Bombay Brew.

Ben Boothman, landlord of several participating venues including the Flying Horse hotel, said: “Not many beer festivals have over 100 beers which have been especially pulled through cask engines!

“At the Flyer, we’re having a festival within a festival with nine local and national beers from the wood.

“These will be served from traditional wooden barrels so people have the opportunity to see if they can taste the difference between the same beer from a wooden barrel or an aluminium one.

“We’ve also got live music on from Thursday through to Sunday, so make the most of the Easter weekend with the town centre’s fantastic venues.”

Pubgoers can enjoy the range of beers and cider on offer, from a pint of Manchester Cream to a jar of Death by Stereo, by Nightjar Brew based in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire.

Jon Riley is owner of Hoochi Koochi, one of the participating venues based on 9-10 South Parade. He said: “As an independent business, it’s great to be once again part of the ale trail which is proving to be a popular event.

“The town centre is renowned for its extensive cask ale offer and here at Hoochi Koochi we look forward to welcoming those participating in the ale trail.”

In order to be within a chance of winning a meal for two from a Rochdale restaurant, you’ll simply need to take a snap of your ale trail drinks and stamps.

Each day of the ale trail, a winner will be chosen, and there are five meals to be won, so post either to Rochdalealetrail or email paul@rochdalebid.co.uk.

The trail will support Rochdale’s hospitality venues and has been organised by the Business Improvement District and is supported by the Campaign for Real Ale.

Paul Ambrose, Business Improvement District Manager, said: “While each of the participating pubs and bars offer something unique to their visitors, they all share the foundation of what makes them great – a warm and welcoming atmosphere, excellent service and a fantastic range of cask ales and ciders.

“I also thank CAMRA for supporting this event.”
