AHOLIDAYMAKER who left their car with a ‘ meet and greet’ airport parking service returned to find themselves trapped in a muddy field with their keys missing.

Student Megan Kelly, 20, from Rochdale who flew out of Manchester Airport and booked the parking through an online comparison site, told the Observer that she was unable to contact the firm they booked with and have their cars returned when they landed.

Megan was one of three travellers who eventually traced their cars to a boggy field in Styal, Cheshire, just two miles from the airport.

However only one has been able to drive theirs away, with two currently blocked in.

The master keys to all three vehicles which were handed over on departure are still missing, causing their owners big headaches.

There are believed to be a number of other people affected.

Police say they are aware of issue and they are trying to establish what has happened.

The firms operating the service are not connected to Manchester Airport, a spokesperson confirmed.

All three drivers said they wanted officers to do more to help with their plans being thrown into turmoil.

Megan booked her parking online last week and was met by a man wearing a hi-vis jacket who collected the keys to her Vauxhall Corsa and drove it away prior to her flight to Milan.

However when she returned to Manchester the following evening the number she had been given to arrange collection repeatedly went to voicemail. “I was panicking because I thought it might be gone completely,” Megan said.

After reporting it stolen she said she also rang the website she booked through, who she said were very unhelpful, although she was eventually given a different number of a different parking firm, who said they had not handled her booking but that they thought they may know where her car was.

She went to the address she was given, on Moss Lane in Styal, with her spare key on Tuesday night but due to how dark it was, decided to return on Wednesday morning.

When she got there the police were already on site.

However, she was told she was unable to drive it away as it was blocked in by other cars.

“It was a massive, muddy field,” Megan said.

“But it wasn’t the sort of place you’d expect or want your car being parked. The police had a list of about 20 registrations they were looking for of people who’d complained.

“I told them I was looking for mine and they went away and eventually came back and said they had found it but they no idea when I’d be able to get it out.

“They said they were trying to find out what

screening and early detection.

RCT business support manager Lizl Donnelly said: “We have held a couple of awareness sessions over the past few months and the aim of these sessions is to help raise awareness of the three current screening programmes that are available, and promote the benefits of attending those sessions.

“In this session we focused on breast screening and had a bit of fun with feeling for lumps on prosthetic breasts.”
