Youth team hit back for a draw

-

ROCHDALE’S Youth Team clawed back a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Fleetwood Town on Easter Monday.

All four goals in the game came before the break, with Paddy Watts and Oscar Kelly on the scoresheet for Dale.

The Cod Army opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, when they netted from the penalty spot.

They doubled their advantage shortly before the half hour, with the low drilled effort beating Ellis Craven at his near post.

But four minutes later, Rochdale pulled a goal back.

A well-worked set-piece was pulled back to Kelly who in turn found Watts and hit home from close range.

The equaliser came just before the break. Kelly, with his back to goal, just inside the area, brilliantly turned and volleyed into the top corner, leaving the ‘keeper helpless as it looped up and over him.

The second half brought few chances, however, in the 69th minute substitute Anisio Jesus was close to completing the come-back but his effort smashed the side netting.

DALE XI:

Craven, Cunningham, Watts, Kershaw, Sutton, Nevett, Mandey, Kyffin, Thomas, Edwards, Kelly. Subs: Jesus, Yaduat, Ehimamiegho, Laurence, Kyle, Greenwell
