Business believers see town’s potential

-

BUSINESS leaders visited the town to learn about the importance they can play in communities.

A number of senior business leaders came to the town on Tuesday, as part of Business in the Community’s (BITC), ‘Seeing is Believing’ programme – established by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1990.

The business leaders met at the Langley Sure State Children’s Centre and Hopwood Hall College to hear from people working and living in the local community.

The visit was designed to inspire the business leaders to consider how they could support initiatives in

Rochdale or take learnings away to implement in other communities across the UK.

Amanda Mackenzie OBE, Chief Executive of Business in the Community said: “The Prince’s Seeing is Believing programme has been running for over 30 years and the importance of business leaders getting out into the community is more vital than ever; visiting community groups, meeting local people and understanding both the challenges and opportunities of an area will ensure that everything is being done to support our local communities.

“Today’s visit to

Rochdale was an incredible experience for everyone who attended.

“There is so much community spirit and opportunity in the area and I know every person that attended the visit has left inspired to do more. “

The visit was led by chairman of The Co-operative Group, Allan Leighton, as well as the companies; Pizza Express, Element, Simba and Brewdog.

Other businesses who attended the visit were:

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, Satellite Applications Catapult, The Co-operative, Willmott Dixon, Sundelt Rentals, AND Digital, KPMG, Enterprise Rent-a-car, Natwest Group and United Utilities.
