Life’s a picnic at Stacksteads park

-

SUMMER is just around the corner and Western Park in Stacksteads is ready for those dreamed of summer days with its brand new picnic table.

The green table was installed thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Stacksteads Countryside Park Group and kindhearted staff from Cohen’s Chemist in Stacksteads.

And members of the two groups were all smiles as they headed out on a beautiful, sunny day to try out the new seating for themselves.

The groups raised the money through a number of events including a stall at Bacup Market with a fun tombola and a raffle.

A number of fundraising coffee mornings were also held to drum up the cash needed.

The groups have also purchased a couple of benches which will be installed elsewhere in Stacksteads so people of all ages in the area will be able to make the most of the outdoors in comfort.

Terry Haslam-Jones, chair of Stacksteads Countryside Park Group, said: “I am delighted that everyone’s hard work has raised the funds to complete the improvements in Western Park.

“This picnic set will now enable families to spend more time there.

“All that we need now is the weather !”
