CASES heard at Burnley Magistrate­s Court:

AUREL Petre, 21, of Colywn Road, Northampto­n, pleaded guilty to shopliftin­g at Tesco in Haslingden. He was given a 12-month community order with 60 hours’ unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 costs.

BABLU Miah, 41, of Poplar Street, Haslingden, was found guilty of two counts of assault by beating. He was given an eight-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months with supervisio­n, a 10-day rehabilita­tion activity requiremen­t, a 12-month restrainin­g order and ordered to pay £270 costs. CASES heard at Blackburn Magistrate­s Court:

KYLE Stuart Turner, 21, of Lime Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to criminal damage, and using threatenin­g, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to a police officer and paramedics in Haslingden, while subject to a conditiona­l discharge. He was given a new 12-month conditiona­l discharge.

HEATH Lee Spencer, 49, of Lilac Terrace, Stackstead­s, pleaded guilty to drink driving. He was fined £460, ordered to pay £500 costs and disqualifi­ed from driving for 17 months, reduced by 18 weeks if he completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

JOANNE Dickinson, 31, of Hardman Avenue, Rawtenstal­l, was found guilty in her absence of using a TV without a licence. She was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs.

GARY Fraser, 39, of Freeholds Terrace, Shawforth, was found guilty in his absence of using a TV without a licence. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs.

JENNIFER Hatherley, 25, of Fern Isle Close, Whitworth, pleaded guilty to using a television without a licence. She was fined £40 and must pay £40 costs.

JAMES Irlam, 35, of Thorburn Drive, Whitworth, was found guilty in his absence of using a TV without a licence. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs.
