YOUR ACTOR

-

Name: Michael Haworth. Hometown: Rossendale. Job: Retail Buyer. Which theatre companies are you involved with?: The Royal Court Theatre Bacup, X-Rays, Rossendale Amateur Operatic Society. Are you taking part in any productions at the moment?: Recently I played the part of Rooster in Rossendale Amateur Operatic Society’s production of Annie and I’ve also performed in ‘Allo ‘Allo with Bacup Royal Court Theatre. How long have you been with the Royal Court Theatre?: As an audience member since 1989. As a performing member since 1992. Which character did you play in the production of ‘Allo ‘Allo?: Herr Flick. What do you like/dislike about the character?: There aren’t many characters that give you the opportunity to wear black leather, speak in a deadpan-mock-German accent and carry a cane to support a wooden leg. What did you most enjoy about doing this?: Ditto above... oh, and working with the cast and crew involved and giving the audiences of Rossendale and beyond an entertaining night out. Have you been in any other productions?: I’ve lost count now! Maybe 22 musicals, eight plays, seven concerts and 11 pantomimes. I think the Full Monty must be a highlight as I played the same part three times! Who is your favourite actor and why?: Probably Julie Walters in terms of versatility. I think my panto performances owe a lot to her. If you could play any part, what would it be and why?: Any part in The Book Of Mormon. It’s the funniest show I’ve ever seen. Are you involved in any other projects at the moment?: In the planning stages for the rock musical ‘Rock of Ages’ with X-Rays to be performed at The Royal Court Theatre in October. Also, currently looking at scripts for the 2017 Pantomime. What do you most enjoy about doing this?: Working with people who share a passion for local theatre and live entertainment to a standard often comparable with the West End. But a lot more affordable. Any memorable/funny moments or highlights from this?: Too many to mention. Wait for the book, but my highlights would include: The re-opening of the Royal Court Theatre late last year. Co-directing Beauty and The Beast this year, which has just been nominated for five awards. Puss In Boots accidentally falling into the well. The lights failing in the final stripping scene during The Full Monty. Meeting and working with some of my best friends. Coming up at Bacup Royal Court Theatre: If you are interested in joining our theatre as an actor, or a back stage or front of house volunteer please do get in touch. BYTES are performing Midsummer Night’s Dream on September 16 and 17. We have many new performances coming up but keep an eye on our website: www.bacuproyalcourttheatre.com or find us on Facebook – Bacup Royal Court Theatre Group – and Twitter. We also have many paranormal nights and one night shows advertised online but also at the theatre too. Due to our very large theatre being closed for so long, we have a JustGiving link on our website and Facebook page to raise money for a new boiler to give us heat – especially in the theatre area. If everyone who visits the page could donate even £1 we will reach our target sooner. Thank you.
