Festival hoping for big success
ORGANISERS of a Rawtenstall harvest festival are making their final preparations for the big event.
Incredible Edible Rossendale will be hosting their annual Harfest on Sunday, September 25 at Whitaker Park on Haslingden Road from 11am.
Incredible Edible aims to encourage Valley residents to grow and pick their own fruit, vegetables and herbs on their own land, or, on community land throughout the borough
The event will include stalls from local food producers and business, live music from acts including Ian Prowse, Officer, the Broux, Signposted Disaster and Jamie Stevens.
Paul Scott-Bates, who organises the festival, said they were hoping for a repeat of last year’s event.
He said: “We had around 1,500 people through the park last year and the weather was really kind to us, it was so sunny and warm, there were lots of families there with picnic and it was a great day.
“If we could repeat that this year it would be absolutely fantastic.
“We’ve got about 20 stalls signed up so far and some great musical entertainment lined up.”
The festival, now in its fourth year has undergone a re-brand from the original Harvest Festival.
Paul said the aim of the event was to provide something people young and old could enjoy.
He added: “We’ve got something for everybody on offer, we’ve got face painting for the kids, stalls for the parents and music the whole family can enjoy.
“There is no admission to the event and the music is free to listen to.”
