‘I thought I’d be the next victim’ says accomplice

-

MURDERER Sarah Williams’ accomplice believes she would have been her next victim.

The strange theory emerged in letters Katrina Walsh, 56, sent to her ex-husband, Kevin, while she was on remand awaiting trial for Sadie Hartley’s murder.

Walsh wrote that ‘psycho’ Williams, 35, could kill her by lacing her food with prawns.

Walsh – who carries an EpiPen injection kit to combat the effects of allergic reaction – claimed: “All she (Williams) needed to do would be to contaminate something I ate with prawns and remove my EpiPens.

“Then add a ‘suicide’ note confessing and she’d maybe have got away with this. I’m just wondering how long she’ll get, as she’ll be after killing me as soon as she’s out for sure.”

While on remand Walsh penned more than 20 letters from A1 wing at New Hall Prison, Wakefield, initially bragging that she would soon be free.

She wrote: “My solicitor cautiously, don’t hold me to this, is hoping to get to assisting an offender, which I did to (sic), unwillingly before and under duress, after, so there’s little point in fighting that.

“The seriousness of the crime means 2-3 years so if I’m lucky could be out in 2017 with good behaviour etc.”

Convinced evidence would clear her, she wrote: “It will show how she (Williams) had been plotting something or maybe multiple things for a long time, how she put endless effort into framing someone admittedly gullible and a bit away with dragons (not fairies) like me. I made it clear years ago I wouldn’t help her in anything illegal.”

But later, Walsh grew increasingly troubled and in one letter laid bare her fears, writing: “I think I need regular sessions to keep a lid on the panic.”

She repeatedly claimed she was ‘naive’ and ‘gullible’ and had been used as a ‘suitable patsy’ by Williams.

The horse riding instructor adds: “I’ve always been too trusting and don’t spot stuff or process stuff as well as I should.

“All these head injuries I think. I never thought it could lead to something like this.”
