Oxford beckons for Helmshore student

-

A-LEVEL student Aimee Molineux has achieved her dream of progressing to Oxford University after gaining three A grade A-levels.

Former Haslingden High pupil Aimee will embark upon her Japanese course from this September at Pembroke College after securing A-levels in English language, German and psychology at Bury College.

There Aimee, from Helmshore, will work towards securing her career goal of teaching.

Aimee said: “I feel very happy to have received three A grade A-levels and can’t believe I have achieved my dream of studying at Oxford University!

“I can’t wait to study there and experience living independently.”

Having always had a passion for languages, Aimee enjoyed educational visits to Dusseldorf during her time at Bury College, where she was able to further develop her language skills and knowledge.

The 18-year-old said: “I could not have asked for more support from my tutors. Everybody at college made my time really enjoyable and they have helped me to reach my goal.”

She will also be jetting off to the other side of the world to spend one year of her Oxford degree in the Japanese city of Kobe, around 500km south of Tokyo, where Aimee will be able to immerse herself in the culture and experience the language first hand.

Aimee joins nearly 900 other Bury College students in progressing to university.
