CIVIC ARTS CENTRE

- EMMA HOLDEN

WE have two local amateur groups performing this month; first up is Accrington Theatre Group with their performance of The Addams Family Musical at the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre, Oswaldtwistle.

An original story based a little later in the life of the Addams Family but still with all the aspects you know and love about them.

The show runs until tomorrow, Saturday, October 8 at 7.30pm, with Saturday night fancy dress!

Tickets are available from The Civic and range from £10 to £12.50.

The second amateur group to take to the stage will be the Oswaldtwistle Players, who will be putting on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.

This much-loved comedy is based around the antics of two mistresses turning the tables on a knight mistakenly trying to seduce them.

The show runs from Wednesday, October 19 to Saturday, October 22. Tickets are £7 on opening night and £7.50 or £8.50 for the other nights.

Jenny Éclair joins us on Wednesday, October 12, at 8pm, with her fantastic tour – How to Be a Middle-Aged Woman (Without Going Insane). This is sure to be a hilarious evening, whether you believe you’re middle-aged or not!

Tickets are just £17.50 and are selling very fast.

David Holt returns to the Civic on Saturday, October 15, at 7.30pm for another of his everpopular evenings of clairvoyance.

Tickets are £15 each and pre-theatre dinners are available to book before the show.

Please call the box office directly to book for catering.

Of course, we also have a few community events, run by the Civic staff for everyone to enjoy and the first is our annual Macmillan coffee morning.

This year we will hold the event on Saturday, October 15, and there will be free arts and crafts and cake decorating for the children while the adults can enjoy a hot brew and delicious cake.

Entry is free with donations greatly received.

Last but certainly not least – Halloween!

Join the Civic for a family Halloween disco, suitable for the very young, on Saturday, October 29 from 1pm to 3pm.

There’ll be fun, games and fancy dress, all for just £7 a ticket with parents free.

Then later in the evening, for the very brave, book onto our Scare Fest – a guided tour around The Civic with live actors and storytelling, and a completely new set of ghouls ready to haunt you.

Tickets are £8 with a group discount available and tours run every 15 minutes between 5pm and 9pm.
