A CRAFT fair showcased woodwork, art and music at a 1970s loom shop.

The Weavers’ Cottage on Fallbarn Road, Rawtenstall, hosted the fair which displayed the work of talented crafters from the local area, organised by Rossendale Civic Trust.

The Mayor of Rossendale, Coun Granville Morris, was among the guests and spent time meeting and talking to exhibitors.

The event at the venue, which acts as a museum and meeting place for local organisations including the Civic Trust, featured crafts including chair weaving, knitting and crochet.

Teas and coffees were served and piano music CONTACT: BIANCA MURRAY OFFICE: 0161 211 2958 MOBILE: 07467 336860 @BIANCAMURRAY88 bianca.murray@trinitymirror.com was also played.

Coun Morris said he enjoyed himself.

He said: “It was fantastic to see different craft items on show. We were shown the different processes of weaving, and there was knitting, craftwork and needlework.

“The Weavers’ Cottage is a great asset to the area of Rossendale and it’s a great honour that it is protected. It’s inspiring to see it has such dedicated support. We need to ensure it stays visible and promoted, and events like this do that.”

Kathy Fishwick, the chairperson of Rossendale Civic Trust, said it was a successful event.

She added: “We are grateful to The Worshipful, The Mayor of Rossendale Coun Granville Morris who took so much time to meet and talk with the many talented crafters ●● Coun Morris admiring chair weaving at The Weavers’ Cottage who exhibited. The craft fair was a successful conclusion for a busy season at the cottage and we are very thankful for the many wonderful comments left by visitors.
