Peters praises double battlers

- SHELDAN KEAY

BACUP Borough manager Brent Peters has heaped praise on his side for winning two games in 48 hours despite having an extremely depleted squad.

Peters had players missing for a number of reasons in the games against Eccleshall and Daisy Hill, but he commended those that did perform in the matches.

“Suspensions and injuries are part and parcel of football and something all clubs face and have to deal with, but going into these double header fixtures we had suspensions and injuries coupled with sickness and work commitments all transpiring at the same time,” he said.

“Without doubt this becomes a challenging time for not only myself but my coaches Andrew Barlow and Feree Edwards and the remaining players, who have to pick up the baton and run with it, and this is exactly what we all have done.

“In adversity we must always remain positive and we must ensure we all prepare the boys well and hope the boys respond, so I am pleased to say this is exactly what has happened.

“The boys have delivered for us, not just by the fact of securing back to back away wins against difficult opposition, but by way of attitude, commitment and determination of having to play two games back to back in just over 48 hours between each game.

“I am so proud of these boys, their response has been unquestionable and their performance has been a pleasure to watch.”
