YOUR THEATRE ACTOR
Name: Jim Rowe. Hometown: I’m originally from Liverpool, but I’ve lived in Stacksteads for the last 23 years. Job: Personal Advisor to young people leaving care. Which theatre company are you involved with?: Currently the Rossendale Players. Previously Bacup Amateurs and Summerseat Players. Are you taking part in any productions at the moment?: We are three sisters, a Blake Morrison play about the Bronte sisters. Who is your character in the play?: Patrick Bronte (father of the Bronte sisters). How long have you been with the Rossendale Players?: Three years. What do you like about the character you are currently playing?: I like having few lines to learn (and flirting with the stage manager for this production – my wife, Dawn). What do you most enjoy?: The rehearsal process, and seeing how the cast and production team pull it together. Have you been in any other productions?: At the Rossendale Players – Ladies’ Day, Breezeblock Park and Early One Morning. I have also directed Why Me? and A Night on the Tiles. Who is your favourite actor and why?: I don’t have a favourite actor, but I do have favourite performances by an actor – Donald Sutherland as ‘Oddball’ in the 1970 film, Kelly’s Heroes. If you could play any part what would it be and why?: Brian from The Life of Brian. Are you involved in any other projects at the ●● Jim Rowe from Rossendale Players moment?: Mostly training for my annual participation in the Snowdonia Marathon at the end of October. What do you most enjoy about doing this?: Spending a weekend in North Wales with family and friends and meeting so many crazy people that I spend one day a year running with. Any memorable/funny moments or highlights from this?: Just crossing the finishing line each year and surviving! We Are Three Sisters is the special 80th anniversary production of The Rossendale Players and will be the first play of the new 2016/17 season.
