ROSSENDALE REVEALED
BARRY HYDE TOURISM in the UK is increasing year-on-year, and although visitors to Rossendale have increased in recent years, there is still massive potential in the Valley, attracting more visitors and providing a much needed boost to the local economy.
The Promoting Rossendale Partnership Board has been set up to realize this potential through identifying and developing what is distinctive about Rossendale and effectively marketing these assets.
Over the coming weeks Barry Hyde, member of the Promoting Rossendale Partnership Board, will be highlighting those ‘hidden gems’ that make Rossendale and its community distinctive. THIS week he will be looking at Valley Supported Living (VSL).
Launched in 2003, Valley Supported Living is a small, family-led, not-for-profit organisation originally based at Futures Park in Bacup. VSL have plans to moved their administrative centre to new premises in Waterfoot and incorporate a café, which is hoped will become a community hub linking the centre with the community. VSL’s primary objective is supporting adults with wide-ranging disabilities on a one-toone basis.
They aim to provide the highest quality support to individuals in their own homes, enabling them to live in comfort, safely and as independently as possible. They encourage and support individuals in living meaningful and fulfilling lives, and where appropriate, taking an active role in their own community.
Valley Supported Living aims to assist all individuals they support to develop to their full potential and maximise their quality of life and continuously improve outcomes. They believe that in so doing, they will become the preferred care provider within East Lancashire, for adults with learning disabilities and their families. VSL are a registered Charity and a proud member of the Lancashire Learning Disability Consortium. General Manager Martin Kemp is looking to build new relationships with other groups, individuals and organisation that will provide further opportunities for their clients.
