ROSSSENDALE Leisure Trust with ‘Up and Active’ is launching a new Men’s Walking Football Session this autumn.

It began on October 10, from 5-6pm at The Adrenaline Centre, Haslingden.

Conceived in 2011 by the Chesterfield FC Community Trust, walking football aims to inspire the over-50s to get out of their armchairs and back into exercise.

The pursuit is ideal for people of all ages and can be played regardless of physical ability and experience.

Cheryl Goodman, Up and Active Rossendale manager, said: “We are really excited to add a new class to our growing list. This sport can help people improve their cardiovascular fitness, increase muscular strength and joint mobility as well as improve concentration”.

Walking football is a sport that is very similar to the regular game, but played at a walking pace with plenty of breaks.

The usual price will be £4 but throughout October all sessions will be half price at £2.
