MR Granville Sutcliffe Hargreaves, of Burnley Road, Rossendale, died on Sunday, October 9 aged 75.

He was the store manager of Commercial Vehicles Spares and retired from Hydrair Truck Trailer Parts.

He enjoyed holidays abroad, going out for meals and wine and listening to music of any time.

He was the wife of Margaret, sister-in-law of Lynn, and the nephew of Graham and Wendy.

His funeral service and cremation was held on Wednesday, October 19 at Burnley Crematoriu­m.

Irene, a much loved father, grandad and great grandad of Julie, Bryn, Craig, Jacqui and their families.

His funeral service, conducted by the Rev Penny King, will be held on Tuesday, October 25 at St Nicholas CE Church, Newchurch at 1.45pm.

This will be followed by his cremation at Burnley at 3pm.

SANDRA MCCOLLUM

SANDRA Ann McCollum, of Colne and formerly of Bacup, died peacefully at her home on Friday, October 7, aged 68.

She was the much loved wife of Gerard, loving mum of John, Susan, Ann Marie and Paul, motherin-law of Lynda, Ross and Steph, dearly loved nana of Daniel, Nathan, Charlie, Lewis, Jessica, Haydn and Jacob and brother of Michael.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 21 at 10am at Sacred Heart RC Church, Colne, followed by cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 11.20am.

MARIE HIDDLESTON

MARIE Hiddleston died on Sunday, October 9, aged 81.

She was born on May 29, 1935, in Cumbria, to parents Archie and Catherine Kelly.

She had eight siblings and attended St Patrick’s School, Cleator Moor.

In her early 20s she was senior house mother at Irton Hall, Cumbria, employed by the charity now known as Scope.

She married David Hiddleston on July 30, 1960, David joined the Lancashire Police and Marie moved to Waterfoot and in 1969 the family moved to Top Barn Lane, Newchurch.

Marie was always happy in Rossendale and made many friends, she was a member of St Peter’s Church, Newchurch.

Marie worked as a dinner lady with her good friend Betty Scott, a job she loved, especially the students.

Marie was a loyal friend and would listen and help anyone in need.

She especially loves children, who were always drawn to her gentle and kind ways.

Marie is survived by her beloved husband David and children Catherine and David.

She ‘truly was the best’ mum and delightful mother-in-law to Andrew and Belinda, grandmothe­r to Patrick, Laura, Lucy and Lydia, no child could have a more caring grandma.

She has one surviving sibling, Eileen McKenna, there are five nephews and five nieces. Marie’s funeral service and interment took place on Wednesday, October 19.

There were flowers but donations are being received for Alzheimer’s Society, and all enquiries to, Alderson and Horan Funeral Services, 810 Burnley Road, Crawshawbo­oth.

PATRICIA BERWICK

PATRICIA Josephine Berwick, aged 87, of Chatburn Clitheroe passed away on Saturday, October 8, having suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and dementia.

Her husband Gordon passed away in December 2007.

She is survived by her three sons, their families and her grandchild­ren Simon and Joy and son Henry, Jonathan and Anna and Jonathan’s daughter Lucie, and Richard and Karen and their sons Thomas and Harry.

The funeral service will be held at The Sacred Heart Church, Liverpool Road, Ainsdale, Southport at 12 noon on Friday, October 21 followed by a burial in the churchyard.

VERA NUTTALL

VERA Nuttall, of Lacey Court, died on Tuesday. October 11 aged 89.

Before retirement she was a textile worker.

In her spare time Vera enjoyed shopping, buying coats, visiting Blackpool and she loved reading Mills and Boon books.

Vera loved Lacy Court, she was a very active resident, helping at all occasions there.

She leaves her children Sheila, Sue, Jean, Judith and Gary.

She has 11 grandchild­ren and 16 great-grandchild­ren.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 25 at 12.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m conducted by the minister Peter Cox.

ERIC DAWSON

ERIC Dawson peacefully passed away at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday, October 13 aged 86.

He leaves behind his children Nigel and Cathy, four grandchild­ren and two great-grandchild­ren.

He was a past chairman of Bacup Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society and a member of Bacup Rotary Club.

His funeral service will be held at 2.20pm on Friday, October 28 at Burnley Crematoriu­m.

PHILIP GANSLER

MR Philip Martin Gansler, of Crabtree Avenue, Edgeside, died suddenly in Wythenshaw­e Hospital on Thursday, October 6, aged 43.

A service followed by cremation will take place at Burnley crematoriu­m on Tuesday, October 25 at 2.20 pm conducted by Mr Peter Cox.

Born in Bacup he moved to Edgeside 30 years ago. He was employed as general manager of Cranage Haulage, Holmes Chapel, Cheshire and was a former transport manager at Buckhurst Plant Hire in Waterfoot.

He enjoyed playing golf, holidays abroad, watching all sports but mainly being surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife Lindsay, sons Christophe­r and Charlie, father David, mother Gail, brother Lee and his partner Katie, sister Linsey and her husband Paul, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Family flowers only donations in lieu to the Cardiothor­acic Critical Care Unit at Wythenshaw­e Hospital if so desired.
