YOUR YOUTH CLUB
Name: The Youth Zone Rossendale. How long have you been running?: The Youth Club has been running at the same premises since 1989 at The Old Fire Station, Burnley Road, Rawtenstall. What do you do?: We provide the following: General Youth club activities for young people aged 12 to 19 (up 25 if SEN) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 6.30pm-9pm. Stars Youth (for SEN young people) on Thursdays 6.30pm8.30pm Sexual health support for young people every Wednesday 2.30pm4.30pm Drop-in information, advice and guidance support for young people on one-to-one basis who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) every Monday, Tuesday and Friday 1-5pm. These sessions offer wide-ranging support for the NEET young people to address personal, social, educa- tion, employment or training issues including help with job and apprenticeship searches. Have you had any recent highlights as a club?: District-wide youth football events; healthy cooking/eating sessions; summer holiday activities; school half-term activities; arts and craft sessions; dance and aerobics classes; annual Halloween party; weekly Rossendale Youth Council meetings and trips out; Olympic torch events and lots more. What events have you got planned?: Christmas party and February half-term activities. What’s been your greatest achievement so far?: Building relationships with local young people and providing them with essential one-to-one and group support to enable them to address issues of concern. Also providing youth club evening sessions where they can be treated with respect and enable them to participate in a wide range of social, sport and educational activities.
