TAXI strike ends as trade defeated over licensing reform (website, November 25)

David Halshaw: I’m sorry, but what does it say about the taxi drivers and firms when they are striking and objecting to changes that are being introduced to improve the health and safety standards for the benefit of people who use the taxis? It says that they don’t care!

Leslie Nuttall: Easier to not drink.

Susan Davies: Was late for work when they all drove at 2mph at 2.15 on Tuesday.

Sharyn Mckittrick: About time they brought in some regulation.

Kal El: Well done the council. Best decision they’ve ever made...

Michael PT Shannon: There’s always the bus.

Pat Burke: Is it the cab users’ fault that they are on strike? “NO” so why is it the cab users who are suffering. Note to cab drivers, it’s your customers you are hurting and personally if I was late for work because of your strike I would not be hiring you again.

RISING Bridge roundabout works to drag on into December (website and Free Press, November 18)

Julie Nolan: Might help if people were actually working on it... I come past every night at half 5 and no one in sight!

Kelly Walden: I’ve never seen any workers there!? Go past a couple of times a week, midweek and weekends and never seen anyone working on it!

Duncan james Bridge: Should have had a clause in the contract. If they didn’t finish in October then they should have been made to pay a forfeit of £1,000 a week till they finish.

Carl Hamer: Down to one lane most days with no one in sight.

Andy Kyme: You can’t make this stuff up.

William Butler: Not a full roundabout? Part of it is stuck out?

Danny Freeman: Not even round anymore.

TRIBUTES to ‘wonderful’ Whitworth High teacher Edward Marshall (website and Free Press, November 18)

Stuart Hilton: Sad news. I met spoke to him at our 25 year reunion. I still couldn’t bring myself to call him Ted! It just came out as Mr Marshall. A proper teacher RIP.

MUM’S fears as teen with asthma told life-saving inhalers are to be limited (website and Free Press, November 18)

Belinda Waller: Someone needs to review her medications, all people with asthma should have a salbutamol inhaler backup, this can save a life in an emergency. An asthma review is necessary, particularly to make sure the patient is taking their medications correctly. If the patient has a good professional team then she would always have a spare inhaler and if her asthma is particularly bad she should have access to urgent medical care.

As an ex emergency practitioner and an asthma patient, I know the need for this, it can be a killer. I really hope for her sake they give her a spare inhaler, it is unbelievable that this is happening, praying you get sorted out soon.
