Gervin hat-trick delights Boro boss

NORTH WEST COUNTIES DIVISION ONE AFC BLACKPOOL ............ 2 BACUP BORO.................... 3 SHELDAN KEAY BRENT Peters paid tribute to the performance put in by Michael Gervin after his hat-trick in the 3-2 win for Bacup Borough at AFC Blackpool last week.

Gervin helped his side pick up all three points after an impressive display, and Peters was delighted with his contribution.

“Michael Gervin’s hat-trick was well deserved for the way the boy has worked since his return to the club,” he said. “Every goal was well taken. It was certainly not the easiest of finishes but Michael certainly made them look easy, I was very pleased for him.

“AFC Blackpool is always a difficult place to go. Stuart Parker’s teams are well organised and will always keep going until the end.

“Blackpool were a young side and are technically very good, so if given any chance around goal they could well be clinical. This showed in how well they took their second goal as the precision in the pass and the finish was clinical to say the least. It proves how well our boys did play as their chances were limited due to the excellent way we defended.

“Their opening goal was more a bad decision from my defender rather than bad defending, but in the main we defended well.

“When Blackpool did get in then Aaron Ashley in goal for us was different class. I was very impressed with our midfield unit and they are proving to be a real threat who are complimenting each other well in the centre of the park.

“One area we have been missing is a number nine that is fully complimented to the role of a number nine, and Wayne Morrison was excellent in that role.

“His hold up play, his movement and his work rate is something we have been missing, so I was pleased with him.” ●● Adrian Bellamy was pushed further forward
