AMACHETEWIELDING thug threatened to ‘chop up’ and bite police officers after a row with his terrified mum, a court heard.

Phillip Barrow shouted ‘come up here and I will ******* chop you up’ when they arrived at his home on Cherry Crescent in Rawtenstall.

When he was later arrested he threatened officers again shouting ‘someone is going to get bitten here’.

Barrow, 32, pleaded guilty at Burnley Magistrates Court to using or threatening unlawful violence towards other people and to cause them fear for their personal safety.

He was given a 12-month community order with a 25-day rehabilitation activity requirement, fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs.

Two police officers were called to Barrow’s home at 6.40am on Wednesday, November 16, by a man saying his mum wanted him to be removed from the address.

When they arrived on the scene, his mum told them that her son was upstairs and in possession of a machete.

The court heard that she was ‘visibly shaking and her voice was trembling’.

Barrow then appeared at the top of the stairs holding a machete in the air shouting ‘come up here and I will ******* chop you up’

He then started hitting the banister with the machete, the court heard.

PC Brown then drew his taser and instructed Bar- row to drop the machete.

However Barrow was ‘furious and ignored the requests’, the court was told.

Barrow then went out of sight before reappearing a few minutes later and was told by police to slowly walk down the stairs and ‘keep his hands where they could be seen’.

When he was arrested his mum was ‘visibly upset, crying and shaking’ and told officers ‘I can’t have him back, I just can’t’.

When Barrow was transported to Blackburn custody he continued to threaten officers shouting ‘someone is going to get bitten here’.

His mum later visited the station and provided a statement where she said she would not support the prosecution and would have Barrow back at her address.
