THE WHITAKER ART GALLERY AND MUSEUM

-

KIM RAMSEY IT seems like the month of December so far has flown by in a whirlwind, yet there are still so many more amazing things to do coming up at The Whitaker.

We’ll be hosting the final Christmas Party on Friday, December 23rd, and ensuring the evening goes with an extra-special bang as we celebrate Jackie, our Creative Director’s birthday too.

You may be lucky, call and check any availability for the last few spaces if you would like to join us, they’ve been such popular and much-enjoyed events.

Our doors will close for a few days from 2pm on Christmas Eve whilst we take time to recharge, but we’ll be back open on Wednesday, December 28, and saving you from any potential ‘cabin fever’ with our Family Day.

A chance for you to take a stroll down to The Whitaker, blow off the cobwebs, let the children run off all their excess ‘sugar-enhanced’ energy and indulge in our special burger menu served from 12pm-3pm with plenty of Children’s Activities throughout the day.

We’re also extremely excited to be launching the first of our ‘Tasting Menu’ evenings on Friday, December 30, where guests can sample five courses, carefully curated to showcase the culinary delights of the winter season and the talented team of chefs based at the Whitaker.

The evening costs £40 per head with the option to add a wine package to fully compliment the dining experience.

Guests to arrive for 7.30pm and booking is essential.

If you haven’t got plans for New Year’s Eve then why not join us at the Whitaker for an evening filled with music and laughter.

Tickets are £20 each and as well as the usual warm Whitaker welcome and hospitality you’ll also be served a delicious steak sandwich around 10pm to see you through to the stroke of midnight.

But don’t disappear, we have no intention of abandoning you in your hour of need after such hearty celebrations, we’re opening up our doors on New Year’s Day as we host our annual ‘Hangover Club’, serving strong coffee, all-day breakfasts and Bloody Marys to take the edge off.

Finally, as Christmas starts to feel like a distant memory, and you contemplate the year ahead, normal service is restored with our much-loved Acoustic night kicking off January’s events programme on Wednesday, January 4, a chance for you to unwind and listen to the many talented musicians from in and around the Rossendale area.

This is swiftly followed on Wednesday, January 11, when ‘Spoken Word’ returns after a brief sabbatical in December, and leads us into our January Film night on Wednesday, January 18, where we are showing ‘Love and Friendship’ starring Kate Beckinsale, based on an early, unfinished, novella by Jane Austen, fast-paced and witty - just what you need to beat the January Blues!
