Youngsters jump to it for festive fun

CHRISTMAS jumpers and outfits were seen all over the Valley at a series of Yulethemed events.

Youngsters donned their most festive outfits to enjoy a Christmas boogie at Bacup Cricket Club.

Seventy children and adults showed off their dance moves and tucked into treats including hot dogs, mince pies and pie and peas.

There were party games, musical games and a disco with songs for everyone, from Christmas music to partygoers’ requests. There was also a special visit from Father Christmas.

Pauline Clawson, assistant steward at the club, said: “It was absolutely brilliant.”

There was festive knit- wear on display as Little Stars nursery in Helmshore got all dressed up for Wear Your Christmas Jumper Day.

Fearns Community High School also held a festive non-uniform day.

The school enjoyed rewards’ day and at lunch staff served Christmas dinner to prefects. Staff donated money in lieu of sending Christmas cards and all the money raised will support the school’s Youth Enterprise team who are raising money for Rossendale Hospice.

Fearns held a Christmas fair where a host of arts and crafts made by pupils were sold to parents, teachers and governors.
