App puts hidden gems at people’s fingertips
A MOBILE app has been created to highlight the Valley’s ‘hidden gems’.
‘Rossendale’s Hidden Gems’ is a free tourism app that has been created by community group I Love Rossendale to shine a light on the best the borough has to offer.
The app provides a directory of businesses and activities as well as access to a live webcam overlooking Bank Street in Rawtenstall, and local maps and competitions.
The app, which has launched on the Google Play store, will debut on the iTunes app store for Apple devices in April. To celebrate the launch it will feature a collection of virtual reality 360 degree views of impressive places across the Valley.
App developer Andrew Thomas said: “Rossendale is a beautiful area of the UK and deserves a more modern platform to advertise its ‘hidden gems’ on. There’s so much to do in Rossendale, from taste testing locallyproduced ales at one of its many microbreweries to flying a Vulcan bomber or a Boeing 747 flight simulators at The Flight Deck experience. For those who like the outdoors the views are truly breathtaking, rain or shine.”
