‘Andy’s Angels’ in fundraising bid

-

A GROUP of ‘angels’ has rallied to support Andy Shaw and his family with the financial and emotional costs of cancer.

Andy’s sister Nicola Bezer, of Helmshore, has set up a fundraising group called ‘Andy’s Angels’ to support her brother, and a justgiving page aiming to raise £2,000 has already passed the £1,500 mark.

She said: “His GP was absolutely dumbfounded. It’s so unusual what’s happened and for lung cancer to get to that area. It’s not curable, but we don’t know how long he has.

“That’s been the biggest shock. He’s so fit, the day before he was diagnosed he was working out in the ●● Andy with his sister Nicola Bezer, who has set up the fundraising group gym doing leg weights to try and build strength in his leg. We’ve set up Andy’s Angels to help him and his family because the financial pressures of cancer are just horrendous, and we might need to pay for treatment. The level of support has just been amazing, we’re all overwhelmed.”

Nicola has organised a fundraising day at St Mary’s Chambers in Rawtenstall on May 28, with a raffle and auction. Up for grabs is a free year’s membership at Adrenaline gym in Haslingden, where Andy was a long-time member. To donate visit justgiving. com and search ‘Nicola Bezer’.
