ROSSENDALE REVEALED
THIS week Barry Hyde, a member of the Promoting Rossendale Partnership Board, looks at Bacup Pride.
Bacup Pride was formed in September 2011 and is a voluntary group of passionate individuals who aim to improve the appearance of Bacup, encourage community spirit and discourage anti-social behaviour.
They are achieving this by direct action through a regular programme of clean-ups and developing initiatives that help and encourage individuals and other groups. The volunteer membership is on the increase, providing more scope for it to make an even bigger difference to the town.
Bacup Pride works in collaboration with a number of other groups including Rossendale Council, and are involved in a number of initiatives including the Stubbylee Park Masterplan, which is looking to introduce massive changes to the park.
They were also instrumental in raising funds for the recently opened Stubbylee Cycle Pump Track.
The Great British Spring Clean happened recently, and Bacup Pride, with support from Weir Pride and Stacksteads Countryside Park Group, achieved so much over that weekend.
Martin Lewis, managing director of Beta Group Ltd said recently: “We as a company operate nationwide, but with Burnley Road, Bacup being home to our offices and factory, we are eternally grateful for the work Bacup Pride do to the town, making it an attractive and welcoming place for our visitors.”
As a consequence of the amazing work done by Bacup Pride, Beta Group Ltd have agreed to sponsor the group. The group is launching the Bacup Flowerpot Festival at this year’s Bacup Easter event, so go along and find out more. Although Bacup Pride’s membership has increased by over 40 this year they are always looking for new volunteers, so if you would like help, you can volunteer or find out more by contacting them at bacuppride@gmail.com
