Teaching assistant waves farewell after three decades

-

A LONG-SERVING teaching assistant has bid a fond farewell to colleagues and children on her retirement.

Denise Bartlett has worked in the reception class at Stubbins Primary School for 29 years, and was the friendly face welcoming hundreds of children on their first day of school since 1987.

Headteacher Jonathan ●● Danson thanked her for her contribution.

He said: “We are all extremely grateful for the love and dedication she has shown to the school, and particularly to the children. She will be greatly missed by all.”

At an assembly, two children from each year group read out their favourite memories of Mrs Bartlett and she was presented with a book filled with memories from the children. Parents and former colleagues also attended.

Mrs Bartlett, who is looking forward to spending time with family and finally sitting down to read a book, said: “Thank you to all the parents and friends who came to my retirement assembly and making it so special.

“Also for the lovely cards, gifts and well wishes. Stubbins Primary School will always be a special place with lots of wonderful memories for me to treasure.”
