MR James Arthur Fawcett, of Commercial Street, Loveclough, died on Tuesday, April 4, aged 85.

He worked as a calico printer at Loveclough printworks for all his working life. He served for five years in the Lancashire Fusiliers.

He was a keen gardener and also enjoyed fishing and snooker.

James was a member of the CPA.

He leaves wife Iris, three daughters Yvonne, Linda and Gail, two sons James and Nigel. He also leaves grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children and great, great-granddaugh­ters, brother Bill, sister Doris and nieces and nephews.

His funeral will take place on Tuesday, April 18 with prayers at the Chapel of Rest at 10.30am followed by a service and cremation at Burnley Crematoriu­m at 11.20am. Family flowers only with donations if desired to the British Heart Foundation c/o funeral director Dawn Johnson, Fred Hamer Funeral Service.

SHEILA HAYES

SHEILA Hayes, of Highfield Hall care home, Haslingden and formerly of Bacup, died in Blackburn Royal Infirmary on Thursday, April 6, aged 90.

Sheila worked as the secretary at Thorn Primary School in Bacup for many years and she enjoyed walking with her many dogs.

Wife of the late Douglas Hayes and mother of the late Peter Hayes, she leaves her daughter Jan and granddaugh­ters Hannah, Meg and Lauren.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, April 21 at 3.30pm at Radcliffe Crematoriu­m.

RITA KIMACZUK

MRS Rita Kimaczuk nee Baker, of Flax Close, Haslingden, died on Friday, April 7 at Pendleside Hospice, aged 85.

Rita was born in Bacup and worked as a winder at Kearns Mill, Cowpe, where she met Basyl, who she was married to for 65 years.

They emigrated to Canada in 1953 and lived there for 40 years before returning to England, where they have lived for the last 27 years.

A keen swimmer, she was a member of several groups at Haslingden, Bacup and Ramsbottom baths.

Rita leaves her husband Basyl, sister Eileen, sister Jean and family in Canada, and sister Marlene and family in America.

Her funeral will take place on Thursday, April 20 with Requiem Mass at St Mary’s RC Church, Haslingden at 10am followed by interment at Bacup Cemetery officiated by Fr Ben.

CHRISTINE GRAY

CHRISTINE Norah Gray, of Helmshore, died on Saturday, April 8, aged 86.

She was a poet and a retired senior lecturer.

She leaves two daughters Olivia and Amelia and three grandchild­ren.

A celebratio­n of her life will be conducted by Peter Cox. Flowers welcome. Donations are requested for Pendleside Hospice.

THOMAS MULCAHY

MR Thomas Mulcahy, of Tong Lane, Bacup, died in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Saturday, April 8, aged 73.

A service will be held at St Mary and St Anselm’s RC Bacup on Tuesday, April 18 at 1.30pm followed by interment in Bacup cemetery at 2.15pm conducted by Fr Frank Thorpe.

Born in Bacup where he lived all of his life, he was employed in the building trade for many years.

A keen Manchester United supporter, he enjoyed socialisin­g, but mainly being surrounded by his extended loving family.

He leaves his wife Monica, three sons, three daughters, nine grandchild­ren, four great-grandchild­ren, one brother, one sister, nephews, nieces and many friends.

CLIVE SWARBRICK

MR Clive Swarbrick, of Rochdale Road, Bacup, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 8, aged 74.

A service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Wednesday, April 19 at 1.30pm followed by cremation at Burnley at 2.20pm conducted by Mr Peter Cox.

He was born in Bolton where he lived until his marriage when he moved to Oldham, and then to Bacup eight years ago.

He enjoyed gardening, painting, holidays abroad – particular­ly Portugal – and socialisin­g.

He was an art teacher at Royton and Crompton School for many years.

He leaves his wife Carole, children Gareth, Emma and Liam, ten grandchild­ren and many friends.

CHRISTINE GRUNDY

MRS Christine Lillian Grundy, of Sherfin Edge Farm, Accrington died on Saturday, April 1, aged 66.

Christine was a sewing machinist and worked at Burtons Ltd, Bolton until she got married in 1969. She then became a mother to two sons Billy and James.

She gave much of her time to working in local charity shop Help the Aged. She always helped people and gave her time and effort. She loved animals and pets and was not worried about getting stuck into any challenge.

Loving wife to William, she leaves sons Billy and James, grandchild­ren Jamie and Josh, greatgrand­children Cory, Aiden, Eli, Elsie and brother John Carroll.

Her funeral was due to take place on Thursday, April 13 at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please with donations if desired to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary, c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
