African choir set for concert
AN internationally acclaimed choir will be coming to Rossendale for a one-night only concert.
The African Children’s Choir, which rose to fame after performing with Gary Barlow at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, will perform at Longholme Methodist Church, Rawtenstall, on April 28 at 7pm.
Performing all over the world, the choir raises money and awareness for Africa’s most in-need children with tour funds also educating the group.
The choir is comprised of 18 African children, aged seven to 11 and all of this year’s members come from Uganda with performances including a vari- ●● The African Children’s Choir ety of songs accompanied by drums and African instruments.
The choir has also found fans among celebrities including music superstar, Dame Annie Lennox.
She said: “I first encountered the African Children’s Choir as they were heading towards the stage to perform for Nelson Mandela’s paign.
“Since then I’ve come to appreciate more and more, just how uniquely special they are.”
